Unfit for Human Consumption
WASHINGTON, April 15, 2015 B & R Meat Processing, Inc. is recalling approximately 569 pounds of pork products due to nitrite levels in excess of regulatory limit, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product contains levels of Nitrites that exceed regulatory levels.
The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels]
The items were produced on various dates from July 1, 2014 through October 7, 2014. The products bear the establishment number Est.46910 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped to retail outlets in the state of Arkansas.
The problem was discovered when an FSIS inspector was conducting a Food Safety Assessment and observed documented levels of nitrites in excess of regulatory limits were being used in the curing process for the identified pork products.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
