Produced Without Benefit of Inspection
WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2015 The Cure House, a Louisville, Ky. establishment, is recalling an undetermined amount of cured pork products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The cured ham items were produced from 2009 thru Dec. 19, 2015. The following products are subject to recall:
The products subject to recall bear establishment number Est. 44888 inside the USDA mark of inspection; however, this firm was not issued a USDA grant of inspection by FSIS. These items were shipped to distributors in Kentucky and New Jersey.
The problem was discovered when FSIS was alerted by the State of Kentucky, Food Safety Branch, of an operation receiving federally inspected not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) hams and further processing these hams without the benefit of FSIS inspection. A subsequent Office of Investigation, Enforcement, and Audit (OIEA) investigation confirmed the allegation on Dec. 17, 2015.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. Blackwing Organic Meats beef and pork products were produced and distributed without USDA inspection, including ground beef, steak, and stew meat. Uninspected meat may contain harmful pathogens and is unsafe to consume.
Ghanaianway Restaurant and Grocery LLC's Salted Lamb products were produced without USDA inspection. The safety and quality of these products cannot be verified.
Quality Poultry & Seafood, Inc. recalled various frozen catfish fillet products produced without federal inspection. Products that bypass inspection may pose unknown food safety risks.
Sabrositos Hondurenos recalled various chorizo and pork products including smoked chops and ribs because they were produced without USDA inspection. These uninspected meat products may pose food safety hazards.
