Misbranding; Produced Without Benefit of Inspection
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2015 Lebanese Butcher Slaughter, Inc. a Warrenton, Va. establishment, is recalling approximately 902 pounds of beef, goat, and lamb products due to misbranding and because the products were further processed without the benefit of full inspection, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The following products are subject to recall:
These items were slaughtered under inspection on March 27, 2015. They were subsequently processed without the benefit of inspection and sold directly to consumers from the establishments Warrenton location on March 28-29, 2015. The products may or may not bear the establishment number Est. 31959 inside the USDA Mark of Inspection.
The problem was discovered when an FSIS inspector noticed that some of the inspected carcasses were missing from the freezer when he returned to the plant on Monday, March 30, 2015. After further investigation, it was determined that the missing carcasses had been further processed and sold over the weekend without the presence of an FSIS inspector.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
