Produced Without Benefit of Inspection
WASHINGTON, March 13, 2015 Grand Papas Inc., a Detroit, Mich. establishment, is recalling approximately 644 pounds of fried pork skin products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The pork rinds were produced on February 26, 2015 and packaged February 27, 2015. The following products are subject to recall: [Labels (PDF Only)]
The products subject to recall bear the establishment number EST. 19606 inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were shipped to a retail location in Michigan.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS in-plant verification activities.
FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. Blackwing Organic Meats beef and pork products were produced and distributed without USDA inspection, including ground beef, steak, and stew meat. Uninspected meat may contain harmful pathogens and is unsafe to consume.
Ghanaianway Restaurant and Grocery LLC's Salted Lamb products were produced without USDA inspection. The safety and quality of these products cannot be verified.
